
Nicholas Scull Map Western Pennsylvania 1754
Nicholas Scull was born about 1700 and was engaged in the early surveying of Pennsylvania.
He was a member of Franklin's Junta Club and in 1744 became sheriff of Philadelphia County.
In June of 1748 he became surveyor-general of the province of Pennsylvania.
He served in this capacity until December, 1761.
He made this map in 1754 and was published by act of parliament in January of 1759.
This is only two sections of an eight section map measuring over 16 feet in length.
