Nancy Alexander My 2nd Great Grandmother
Was Not The Daughter of William Alexander
And She Was Not Born in Virginia!!

This is the Greene County, Indiana 1900 census report for Margaret Thorlton Letsinger , the daughter of John and Nancy Alexander Thorlton. She would know far better than people today where her mother was born. This is the only verifiable evidence of where Nancy Alexander Thorlton was born. The only other information that exists is that of family rumor, and is totally un-documented except by family here-say.

The first state column indicates the place of birth of the person whose census is being taken, the second the place of birth of the father and the third the place of birth of the mother, in this case Nancy Alexander Thorlton.

1900 Census for Greene Co. Indiana, Wright Township Showing Margaret Thorlton Letsinger. It clearly shows and states that her mother Nancy Alexander Thorlton was born in Maryland her father John Thorlton was born in Pennsylvania and she was born in Tennessee. So how could she be the daughter of William Alexander whose children were born in Virginia? It is obvious that she was not. To all who will not ignore this obvious fact Nancy Alexander Thorlton was the daughter of James Alexander and she was born in Maryland, not Virginia and could not have been the daughter of William Alexander and neither was her brother Joseph.
For any who still refuse to accept this fact you can check this for yourself by simply taking a look at the 1900 Census for Greene Co, Indiana Wright Township page 284 sheet 1

John Thorlton did not live in Knox County he lived in Roane County
Also in Roane County was a George Alexander on Emery Creek and James Alexander my ancestor on Mill Creek.
Nancy was born in Maryland, her daughter said so and I believe her. The only Alexander in Roane, County Tennessee at that time from Maryland was James Alexander, Nancy's father.

Absolutely nothing that has been printed on the Internet by others that proves Nancy was the daughter of William Alexander, other than the writer simply saying it is so.

William was probably her uncle or cousin and a friend of the Thorltons.

The official documents printed above are proof enough for any reasonable person. Margaret was asked directly where was your mother born? .....

and she answered directly..

Frank Willard Thorlton
Great Great Grandson of Nancy Alexander Thorlton
and
Great-Grandnephew of Margaret Thorlton Letsinger
Who Was Also My Surrogate Great-Grandmother
GOD Bless Her, She Was a Grand and Fine Lady!
